Rise in m-commerce
Shopping via mobile phone is a graph that tends to go upward always, the
possibility of it going downward is almost negligible. We have passed the point
where mobile traffic has eclipsed desktop traffic for many sites.
According to the data, by the end of 2018, mobile devices are expected to account for 27% of all e-commerce sale in the U.S. alone. The number of people shopping from PC and Laptop dropped from 78% to 63% whereas, it doubled for smart phone users from 8% to 15%.
A study by eMarketer shows that, retail e-commerce sale reached 2.3 trillion dollars in 2017. Out of this, the mobile share accounted for 1.4 trillion dollars. In 2021, the mobile e-commerce is expected to make 3.5 trillion dollars sale, which accounts for 72.9% of e-commerce sales.
But why this sudden rise in mobile traffic?
Shopping used to be about reading magazines, going to the mall for hours to see what’s new in store, comparing prices, waiting for the trial room and standing in line for the counter. Mobile devices are putting an end to this. You can easily shop while travelling; no need for trials or standing in a queue at the counter or even opening a laptop. Consumers can carry their own mobile mall with them, 24*7.
