Mobile commerce is huge, and it's only getting bigger!

Rise in m-commerce

Shopping via mobile phone is a graph that tends to go upward always, the possibility of it going downward is almost negligible. We have passed the point where mobile traffic has eclipsed desktop traffic for many sites.

According to the data, by the end of 2018, mobile devices are expected to account for 27% of all e-commerce sale in the U.S. alone. The number of people shopping from PC and Laptop dropped from 78% to 63% whereas,  it doubled for smart phone users from 8% to 15%.

A study by eMarketer shows that, retail e-commerce sale reached 2.3 trillion dollars in 2017. Out of this, the mobile share accounted for 1.4 trillion dollars. In 2021, the mobile e-commerce is expected to make 3.5 trillion dollars sale, which accounts for 72.9% of e-commerce sales.

But why this sudden rise in mobile traffic?

Shopping used to be about reading magazines, going to the mall for hours to see what’s new in store, comparing prices, waiting for the trial room and standing in line for the counter. Mobile devices are putting an end to this. You can easily shop while travelling; no need for trials or standing in a queue at the counter or even opening a laptop.  Consumers can carry their own mobile mall with them, 24*7.

We fall in love with brands, not products.

“Wow!! What a nice bag.” I exclaimed.

“Thanks…..that’s CHANEL,” she said.

“Whoa! That must have cost you a fortune.”

“Sure, but I just love CHANEL.”

That sounds about crazy right, spending hundreds not if thousands on a bag? I mean it’s just a bag after all. It might be just a bag for you and me but for my friend and people like her? NO! It’s more than a mere bag, it’s about the “brand” rather just the product.

People often confuse between brand and a product. Here, in this case, it is not about “bag – the product” but about Chanel the brand”. But why go for costlier version when you can get the same thing for just few bucks? Because it’s about the emotional attachment and personal experience with the brand.

So, you see, there are differences between brand and product. A product is created by the company whereas the customers create the brand.

How to Make People Buy Your Product through nice Packaging Design

“Packaging can be theater, it can create a story.”- Steve Jobs

What compels the buyer to buy your product? Buyers need a reason to choose your product over hundreds of other products placed next to yours. Therefore, it is necessary that your packaging clearly states its USPs in an eye-catching way. To achieve this, brands need to have clear understanding of their competitors, the target consumer, spot-on color scheme, their target markets and how they differ from the competitors.

Survey of Competitors
A little hard work never hurt anyone. A detailed study of your competitors is the factor that should always be taken into consideration for packaging design before launching your product in the market. Competitor analysis is important because it gives us an idea of what works well in the market as such it’s a proven strategy. What works for them might work for you as well! But this does not mean copying your competitor. The aim is to obtain a generalized idea about how competitor’s products get mileage in consumer purchase, so you consider implementing in your brand packaging design.

Target Consumer
As your product is your baby, so know first how the buyer of your product is. Keep Target consumers in mind, consider what they like to purchase from retail display rack. Like say your product is lipstick then your consumer target is female consumers of age 18 to 38. So the packaging design of your brand must attract the female consumer with beautiful design and soft color range.

Facebook Advertising: Not Your Normal Advertising

Brand recognition is not easy these days; it’s like finding a needle in a haystack. Even though you might have created a really insightful piece of content, it can be hard to reach the target audience, especially in the beginning, where no one knows you or your brand.

Social media is one of the most effective communication and advertising channels. But marking your presence among the already established is not easy. Also the competition is increasing day by day. But thanks to the social media ads, one can promote their business easily and effectively.

Highly targeted ads on social media can help you reach exactly the people who care about your content. The ability to target potential readers and customers based on demographic data, behaviors, and very specific interests is the biggest strength of social media ads.

But social ads are just not limited to promoting content, they are also a great way to advertise brand and products, drive traffic to your website or online shop, or collect contact information for your email campaigns.

Progressive Web Apps: A Simple Definition

What are Progressive Web Apps (PWAs)?

Apps rule the world. Why? Because they are fast and robust and offer services like push notification, integration with other apps and web, location services and many more. People use mobile apps on their devices far more than mobile browsers. This means that if you want to reach a huge number then just a mobile-friendly website is not enough. You will need native apps as well. But that’s a lot of work.

Wouldn’t it be great if websites started behaving like native apps And why not? A study shows that 87% of the time spent by user is on mobile devices and 13% is on web which means web is not dead YET.

Out of that 87%, majority of the time is spend on Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube and Gmail and out of these six; 80% of the time is consumed by Facebook only. You can think of Facebook as just another browser. The time we spend engaging with the apps says everything.

By now you must be quite familiar with the word Progressive Web Apps aka PWA. According to Google, Progressive Web Apps are the experiences that combine the best of the web and the best of apps. They are useful to users from the very first visit in a browser tab, no install required. As the user progressively builds a relationship with the app over time, it becomes more and more powerful. It loads quickly, even on flaky networks, sends relevant push notifications, has an icon on the home screen, and loads as a top-level, full-screen experience.
